txplink

Post by Jordan Sacks »

I used to use a program called txplink. You're probably familiar with it. It was used to associate .txt files with Textpad. I am now using Windows NT 4.0 and am wondering how to associate the .txt files with Textpad when using Windows Explorer, or using My Computer. I am using Textpad 4.2. I will upgrade if that will make possible associating .txt files with Textpad.

Thank you:

Txplink is a program that replaces NotePad with TextPad. You can still download it from our add-ons utilities page:

http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/index.html

Or if you want to make your *.txt, *.html etc.. files associated with Textpad you could try the following:

1. Open TextPad.
2. Select the Configure menu.
3. Select Preferences.
4. Choose the Associated Files page.
5. Type an extension in the New Extension box, or choose one from the drop-down list.
6. Type the description of such files in the Description box.
7. Click the Add button.
8. Repeat steps 3-5 for each new extension.
9. Click OK or Apply.

To revert an association back to its default:

1. Select the extension from the list box.
2. Click Delete.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 for each extension to delete.
4. Click OK or Apply.

I hope this helps.

P.S. This is explained in the help files under "Associations" if you need more information.
