How to import all configurations and definitions from version 8 to version 9?

If you install version 9 of TextPad on the same PC as version 8, it will uninstall version 8 and copy all its configuration files. If you need to import them from another PC, they are stored in this folder:
%APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\8
Copy its contents to:
%APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\9

I installed version 9 of TextPad on the same PC as version 8.
Why did I get a black window background having a white background in version 8?

I don't know why but you can change it using View » Appearance » Default.

Hi,
I did a restart of my PC after it was a couple of month up, and all my Textpad settings were lost.
Working with Textpad version 9.5.2.
How to restore my settings?

TextPad saves its settings (apart from the user interface) in this file:
Code: Select all
%APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\9\ConfigState.xml
If it doesn't exist, TextPad creates it with its default settings.
I can't help with the reason it may have been deleted from your PC.

Did you close TextPad before to ensure everything will be saved? Or did you assume Windows would handle that for you?

The easiest way is to install the latest release over 9.5.2, use the Backup command on its Configure menu to export its configuration, then import it with the Restore command on the other PC. Otherwise, transfer everything in these folders:
%APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\9
%PROGRAMDATA%\Helios\TextPad

How to export/ import all configurations and definitions from version 9.8 to a new installation of version 9.8 on another brand new Pc ?

- Export your configuration on the old PC using the Backup command on TextPad's Configure menu, and copy the file to the new PC.
- Install TextPad on the new PC.
- Run it and import the configuration using its Restore command.
- Restart TextPad.

Is that the same as copying %APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\9 from source PC to target PC?

In addition to that folder, it also copies your TextPad license and any additions you may have made to the spell checker dictionaries.
