Applying a theme

OK, I am admittedly a bit slow, nonetheless...

I went through and set up my "Dark theme" having not found any already configured.

How do I apply this to see if I even like it after a while of usage?

Update:

I kinda sloggeed my way to a quasi-starting point, but now: I have the dark theme, so I need/want the current line to be light with dark type. Nothing I have tried works. The type in the current line remains white (the "default" to the dark background) and nothing I have tried makes it go black, on, say, a white background.

What am I missing or just doing wrong?

The theme you choose only affects the user interface elements. To change the colors of individual items in an edit window, you need to change them for the corresponding document class:

Configure » Preferences » Document Classes » CLASS » Colors

I hope this helps.

I got it -- for the most part.

What I cannot seem to get the Styles to do is the give me then a light background with black text for the current line -- a reverse of the white text on black but with a pale-colored background.

It just doesn't seem to want to do that.

Because "the current line" is the document/editor, not a user interface element. Document classes and its colors are unbound to themes/styles.
