I am running Textpad 8.1.7 on Windows 10, fixes uptodate. The printer installed is a Canon TR4700 series.

I don't often print but lately when I tried to print a .TXT doc. opened with Textpad, I got an error msg - Textpad can't start the print job.

I CAN print with no issues PDF docs, JPG files, IMG files. I can print a TXT file using Notepad but can't print the same file using Textpad.

I CAN print the previously mentioned files when the printer is connected via a USB cable and also wireless. Nothing works for Textpad.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Textpad 8.1.7 and that did not correct my issue.


I have another laptop with WINDOWS 11 and Textpad 8.1.7 and I have seen no issues of any kind.

I don't know if there are any logs maintained by Textpad and if there are, I don't know where they are. Also I wouldn't know what to
look for if I did find them.

Can anyone provide some assistance with this issue?

Please try updating to version 8.17.1.

If that doesn't help:

1. Open Configure » Preferences » Document Classes » Text » Printing
2. Check "Restart with default printer".
3. Click OK.
