Up until recently, when I used the hotkey <Alt + F3> it opened the current text file's container folder in File Explorer. But that has recently started including the Navigation pane, which takes a few clicks to remove.
There's a similar unexpected change in behavior in Excel 365. When I open a hyperlink to a local folder that too now includes the unwanted pane,
Because of that I naturally first posted in the Win 10 forum yesterday

and hope to get a solution there. In pursuit of a clue, I'm also posting in the Excel forum too.
Note that neither of those apps display the unwanted pane when I use their Open menus.
My guess is that it's somehow down to my recent update of Win 10 to version 21H2. Settings > Update refused to update, so after several days of inconclusive research I did so the hard way via an ISO download. If that was indeed the cause, I'm seeking advice on how to fix this minor quirk please, with hopes for a simple registry hack?
