To see the results of the Search "Find" process better, I click on:

Configure
Preferences
Document Classes
Search Results
Colors
Selected Text

I change the default "Background" color from white to aqua, click "Apply", "OK" and close Textpad.

I re-open Textpad and open a text file.

When I do Search "Find", the results still have the default white background.

What am I doing wrong?

How do I save the preferences changes?

Document Class "Search Result" applies to the Search Result window (the one for "Find in Files".

The hits of a search within a "normal" window are colored by the document class for that file, per "Selected Text" and "Selected Text (no focus)".

And: changes are applied live, no need to exit/restart textpad.

I clicked

Configure
Preferences
Document Classes
Default
Colors
Current Line "Background" is default (i.e., light yellow)
Selected Text "Background" is aqua
Selected Text (no focus) "Background" is aqua.
I then clicked Apply.

In the document:
the current line is aqua
the Search "Find" "Find What:" results still have the default (white) background color.

What do I have wrong?

Which document class applies to the document?
And what are the settings in that document class?
