Currently inserting a unicode character into an existing word:

e.g. change 'dana' to 'D�na'

by just selecting the 'a' and inserting the character results in:

'dšna' or some other incorrect character.

In order to get the correct character inserted one must select the 'a', delete it, and then insert the unicode character.

It would be helpful if one could just select and replace.

I can't reproduce this problem.

I am using TPs own Unicode Insertion tool ... more or less: I am using a macro keypad which has the characters I need set up to be inserted using the TP sequence of keystrokes

I'm still working on that. (joke) My head and the reference books there (I am not talking about my bathroom). One way or another I spot a word where the diacritical is missing or incorrect in an already existing file and I am correcting it.

Actually, if I copied and pasted from another document the problem does not occur. The problem is with TP's tool as far as I can see. They have solved the problem of multi-part characters going in the foreward direction, but not in the backward direction is what it looks like.

EDIT: I have just found a work-around. Not selecting first. Insert the character, then delete wrong character. This works, but could result in errors caused by inattention, distraction, multiple diacritics in a row, etc.
The tool needs to work whatever way we use it.

EDIT 2: I now see my description of the problem is not accurate:

Using Dana >D�na
1. Select the 'a' and replace with the '�' > Dšna
2. Select the 'a', delete, insert '�' > D�na
3. Insert the '�', delete the 'a' > D�na (works either side of the 'a')
