In Textpad 8.2, the option "File / Workspace / Save as" crash the application on my computer.

My actual solution was to uninstall, then install Textpad 8.11. (Found somewhere on the web...).

More informations about version 8.2 - 64 bits:

To load a text file ended with character 0 crash TextPad.
The previous version was able to load such files.

Rather like Celime, I have been getting multiple crashes with TP V8.2 on a Windows 7 vm. It all seems to be related to the Workspace functionality.

The editor usually crashes on a Save As of a workspace. It usually reports the workspace as corrupt on reopening. Sometime the editor crashes and dumps on exit. (I can email these on request.) The editor is not really usable under these circumstances - most unusual for TP.

I too have reverted to 8.1.2 for Win7 installation. I also have TP installed on the base machine under Windows 10, and there I was not able to repeat the crash, although I admit I haven't tried hard.

8.11 never existed so far, but 8.1.1 did and later 8.1.2.

You can still download it from this very website, making sure it's official. If you look at the link of the current 8.2.0 version https://www.textpad.com/download/v82/x6 ... 820-64.zip it's easy to figure out you can get the 8.1.2 equivalent by querying https://www.textpad.com/download/v81/x6 ... 812-64.zip .

For the 32bit version go the same way: use the current link, then change its relevant parts (would come down to https://www.textpad.com/download/v81/wi ... 812-32.zip).
