Hot-key to Clip library item

Hello,
is it possible to assign a keyboard shortcut to a Clip Library item?
Or is it possible to record a macro which simply runs a Clip library item?
This would allow e.g. to simply enclose current selection with a code defined in the Clip library (e.g. a commenting sequence, like "\startcomment (current selection) \stopcomment", via hot-key).
If this feature is not present, would it be possible to implement it?
