Re AmigoJack's BOM to kluge TP's UTF-8 display failure, I get success in Run:

Any idea why?

FWIW, I get slightly different failure on an External Tool created with Add, DOS Command... :

To capture UTF-8 output in TextPad 8.1, set that as the default encoding for the Tool Output document class. That didn't work in previous releases.
