Find in Files is Not Working

The Find in Files function is not working. After I enter the search text, file name wildcards and search folder and then click Find, nothing happens. The dialog doesn't change and there are no results. The search doesn't seem to get initiated.
The search text is just plain text, no regular expressions and the search folder is a local folder on my hard drive. I know the search text exists in many files in the search folder. I've tried all combinations of checking or unchecking Regular expressions, Search subfolders, All matching lines or file counts and Binary file or text, and I tried different search text, different file name wildcards and different search folders all with no luck.
I've tried rebooting the computer and uninstalling and re-installing TextPad and still no luck.
I read in an another post that the Find in Files search now runs in a new thread and that the Close button will change to Cancel while the search is in progress. The Close button never does change.
If this makes a difference, I did have WildEdit installed at one time. I rarely used WildEdit, so I uninstalled it. I have uninstalled and re-installed TextPad since uninstalling WildEdit. I don't know when this problem started in relation to uninstalling WildEdit
Here are the details of my system:
TextPad 7.4.0, 64-bit
Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit
