Transfer macros from Windows XP Laptop to Windows 7 desktop

I copied Text Pad 5 from the laptop and transferred it to the Windows 7 desktop. I followed the instructions in Help, How to, etc. to transfer the macros. I imported HKEY CURRENT USER\Systems\Helios\TextPad 5 from the laptop via regedit. But when I now try to access TextPad 5 on the desktop, I get this error message:
"Error accessing c:\Program Files\Text Pad 5\Samples\Underline.TPM.
C:\Program Files\Text Pad 5\Samples\Underline.TPM not found."
I click OK, and the same error message repeats for every TPM file. And then TextPad opens. But no macros!
I don't know what's going on. Can anyone help?

Are both the XP and the W7 OS 32 bit or both 64 bit or a mixture of the two? If XP is 32 and W7 is 64 do you need to change the W7 path from ...\Program FIles\... to ...\Program FIles (x86)\... ?

Both operating systems are 32 bit.
Where is the macro file in Text Pad 5? On my flash drive, I discovered a file with all TPM files?

Your macro files in each installation are in the directory named in Configure | Preferences | Folders | Macros. The directories may be different in the two installations.

Thank you. But how do I access the macros folder in order to copy the TPM liles to it?

You wrote:I copied Text Pad 5 from the laptop and transferred it to the Windows 7 desktop.
Do you mean you didn't use the installer?
And do you mean that the directory specified for macros doesn't exist on the Windows 7 machine? The file directory structures on Windows XP and Windows 7 are different. So if you didn't use the installer, that is not surprising. Install TextPad properly and try again.
TextPad 5 is very old. Is there a reason you're not using TextPad 7?

I am using Text Pad 5 because it works fine. It is sufficient for my needs. Only the macros from the laptop are missing. Now if I did install Text Pad 7 and "try again," what specifically would I do to transfer the macros from Text Pad 5 on Windows XP?

Copy the macro files in the directory named in Configure | Preferences | Folders | Macros in the source installation into the directory named in Configure | Preferences | Folders | Macros in the destination installation.

Thank you. I have installed TextPad 7. It looks great. On the Windows XP laptop with TextPad 5, I found the folder ...\Helios\TextPad\5.0. It contains the macros. And I successfully copied that folder to TextPad 5, Windows 7! As for TexPad 7, the macros I believe are in the folder... \AppData\Roaming\Helios\TextPad\7. I don't know how to copy the 5.0 folder there. Should I just rename it 7?

Have you tried copying the files using Explorer or the command line?

I renamed 5.0 "7," and that worked. Thank you.
