Problem opening textpad by double clicking text file

Post by TraceyW »

Hello everyone

I'm hoping someone can help with a problem I have in that double clicking on a text file, whether created using Textpad or not, does NOT open the file at all. Rather what it does is display an error message, i.e. "There was a problem sending the command to the program." I should also add that it does not matter whether Textpad is already open or not. This is the first time I've had this with Textpad and I'm now on 7.0.9 having registered the program some 12 years ago when it was on something like an early version 4 or maybe earlier. Perhaps its something I may have done in setting up the program but up to now I cannot find anything. In general it doesn't really cause me too many problems as I find it only mildly annoying but if someone can help I would very much appreciate it.

Many thanks
Tracey

If you have made your associations to files in TextPad (Configure/Preferences/Associated files), then delete them from there, and make the associations from the Control Panel option Default Programs instead.

I hope this helps.
