Believe I have followed all the rules. My comment start and end tags have been defined, as has the comment color. However, the settings are not taking effect. Comment colors are the same as plain text. Must be missing something?

Nevermind, it was the issue of characters in words. Added the required ones, and now all is well. Thanks.
