Serious problems occurred when upgrading to 7 from 6 (XP)

The following problems occurred when upgrading to version 7, using XP Professional:
1. When attempting to close a file, Textpad freezes.
2. The Preferences box takes a long time to come up.
3. A large portion of my settings did not copy over.
UPDATE:
Problem 1 went away when rebooting. I don't know about the others. Also, I set SearchReplace to ctrl-H, Ctrl-R and it doesn't always take.
