Lost settings when going from 6 to 7.

I attempted to add to existing thread and to write to support - no answer.
I upgraded from 5 to 7, but the settings did not transfer. I uninstalled 7, then installed 6. I copied the sample folder from 5 to 6. Everything was good. Then I waited the several years it takes for it to let you download again, and downloaded 7. I copied the sample forlder again.
But when I open 7, my settings are not there - the window format and most especially my file types.
