I am a long time user but haven't been using textpad for a while.

just tried to compare 2 files and can't get it to work. The command results window is not to be found.

Any hints on how to get it to reappear ?

In Configure > Preferences > View, under Dockable log windows, clear Tool Output.

If that doesn't fix the problem, or if you prefer Tool Output to be a dockable/floating window, exit TextPad and rename or delete the following file:

For TextPad 5: %APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\5.0\config.xml
For TextPad 6: %APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\6\GUIState.xml
