I understand that Textpad does not have full Unicode support, that is fine.
But can I ask that Textpad atleast put the BOM (Byte Order Mark) when selecting Unicode in "Save As" -- so that if I create a text file with normal characters - and want to save it as type Unicode - that atleast it will not break conventions and that file won't cause problems with other programs and/or search indexers?

It should be rather easy to just append the BOM onto all files saved as Unicode to meet with standards. I am not asking for full Unicode support - just correctly do the BOM atleast. Thanks.

TextPad - BOM
This was timely as I had the same question this morning!
However, it may be better that the BOM option is independent for UTF-8 (where it is not recommended) and Unicode or UTF-16 (where it is generally more useful, though not required). I would refer to the same Wikipedia article.
Thanks.
