If I enable the context menu, then when I right click on a file, Explorer appears to lock up for about 120 seconds. Maybe longer (seems like forever).
Eventually - If I don't resort to killing the explorer process or other drastic measures, the file will load in TextPad.
But its... too long. And very focus-killing to be trying to edit a file and then ... BOOM. STOP. Wait... explorer no longer works (hence pretty much all of windows doesn't work)... for eons.
I have resorted at the office to simply removing this option (not selecting that TextPad place itself in the context menu).
But this sucks. It's the best place for it for my style of using TextPad.
Is there a fix for this? Some registry keys I could look at?
I'm a programmer, so don't mind doing so - but not sure where to look for the problem let alone the solution.
Thanks!

My bet is that you guys are setting things in the registry either during installation or during first run (launched from your installer) which means you're running elevated privileges.
Either you have to always be elevated when making such changes, or never, otherwise the non-elevated changes are ignored or make a mess because they don't sync with the elevated ones or are written off to virtual keys by Windows, and bugs ensue.
