TextPad 5.3.1
Windows 7 Enterprise, 64bits
I am looking a list of several files in Windows Explorer, so I double click one of them and TP comes up alright.
Now, I double-click a second file and another instance of TextPad opens.. which I rather not.
Is this a Windows setting, or a hidden TP setting ? I want only one TP window and the next file to open in new tab.
Thanks.

How about Configure > Preferences > General > Allow multiple instances to run? Not exactly hidden.

No, it's not exactly hidden, but, gawsh !!! I didn't see it there before... nevertheless... I had big hopes and it didn't work as I expected

... the second file that is clicked on Explorer opens another instance of TP...

Looked a little more this morning... The TP help on this setting states:
Allow more than one instance of the program to run at a time. Note that an existing instance will open any files double clicked in Explorer, if the association is configured to use DDE messages
By coincidence, I had regedit open on .txt key of :
Code: Select all
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts
so I deleted the .txt key which had Notepad and textpad in it. BAM ! Started to work right away.
Don't ask why or how... I'm just as happy it is working now.
