New commands in 6.1 not visible

Post by MichaelG17 »

I have just upgraded from 5. something to 6.1

The two items below are not visible in the drop down menus.

New Check for Updates command on the Help menu.
New Appearance command on the View menu to choose the UI appearance.

Is there a box I have to check somewhere to make the commands appear?

Am I the only one who has this issue?

They are there for me. That doesn't help you much!

You seem to be the only one with this problem so far. Try exiting TextPad and renaming the ConfigState.xml and GUIState.xml files in the folder %APPDATA%\Helios\TextPad\6 and see if that helps.

Rename them what?

Or just give them any name?

Just give them any name, so that TextPad will create new config files when you next run it.

1. Exit TextPad.

2. Open the following folder in Windows Explorer:
On Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Helios\TextPad\6
On Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Helios\TextPad\6

3. Rename ConfigState.xml to ConfigState.bak and GUIState.xml to GUIState.bak.

4. Restart TextPad.

Thank you! that was successful!

I can now see both items in their respective menus.

Nope, I had exactly the same problem. Deleting the config files fixed it, but lost a bunch of config settings that I then had to manually recreate.
