I have been using TextPad since the mid 1990s. One change that happened (I believe between version 4.X and 5.X) was that the search results pain suddenly became its own panel at the botton or where you want to move it. I liked having it listed as a document and NOT taking away my document space, where I could flip to it and back wnen I wanted. Is there any way to do this again??

Yes, it is a "pain" (I see what you did there). Fortunately, as of version 5.1 it can be treated like an ordinary document window again.
In Configure > Preferences > View, under Dockable log windows, clear Search Results (and Tool Output as well if desired).
