Rename an external tool entry?

I just added a new external tool (configure\preferences\tools), and found myself forced to select the tool's executable file name in order to enter it. After some cutting and pasting, I was able to configure the tool parameters to what I needed, except for the tool name; that remained as the name of the chosen exe. I had to use RegEdit to change the tool name. It seems to me that I've missed something obvious, but after searching the help and community forums, I still can't find it; so, what's the recommended way to change an external tool's name?
