I upgraded to 5.4.2 about a year ago over 4.7.x and so it is installed in D:\Program Files\TextPad 4\TextPad.exe, with Spelling as a subfolder under ....\TextPad 4\Spelling. This where I want TextPad to live.

I needed the French dictionary so I downloaded it and ran the installation - no French dictionary available according to Configure -> Preferences. But, now there is an entry in C:\Program Files\TextPad 5\Spelling and no TextPad.exe here. It appears that the dictionary installation ASSUMES that TextPad.exe is in C:\Program ....... and puts the additional dictionary files there.

I want TextPad 5 to be in D:\Program Files\..... where it presently resides.

So, can I simply copy all the C:\Prog....\Spelling\*.* to D:\Prog......\Spelling or are there also registry entries to be changed?

I have received no advice/reply to my query so decided to try it myself. After appropriate backups, I copied the the files from the C: ...\Spelling drive to the D:....\Spelling drive (see my previous post).

Bingo! i now have both English and French dictionaries available in TextPad.

Hope this may help someone else.
