Non-comment line colon in a syntax file?

Hello, I'm using a proprietary programming language with which they created a pre-done syntax file to define keywords for me.
They way the language uses colons makes me really want them to stand out, so I want to add it in it's own keyword group so I can adjust it's color individually.
The problem is, the .syn file reads colons as a comment line for commenting in the .syn file. Is there a way around this?
