Colours on status bar

Dear all,

When I enter block mode (Ctrl-Q, B), the word "block" on the status bar changes from plain text to bold text. Under some lighting conditions (such as at my place) this difference can hardly be seen. So I would like to see this changed: from plain black to plain red, for example. (The same holds for the other things shown on the status bar, of course.) Anybody with me?
