Tooltip displaying value of character under the cursor

I thought this was a Textpad default for Characters "out of Ramge"
place the mousecursor on the left part of the character you "can't see". TextPAD will give you the character value as a tooltip e.g.: EOT (^D = 4 = 0x4)
This is not working for me???? Textpad 5.4.2 windows 7 64 bit
