How can one set the default "View" panes that open when I open Textpad 5.4.2.

By default the program opens
* Document (what I wanted)
Plus all of
* document selector
* clip library
* explorer (this takes some time to show due to the trolling fo the network)
* tool output
* search output

I can set preferences to the system for Text Highlight, and Line Numbers and they are retained successfully. However, I very much want JUST the document and not the extra 5 panes provide by default.

Please advise how to change the default windows layout (extra 'view' panes are closed by default when opening a document from windows desktop).

Thanks for any help. I have tried much searching and reading but this tip has not been found.

These views can be toggled on/off by using the (BIG SURPRISE!!!) View menu.

There's also the "X" at the top-right hand corner of each pane...

My Panes are still a Pain every time I open TextPad

The problem is NOT closing the View or Panes. That can be done by both of the methods indicated in the replies to my original post.

The problem is that every time I open TextPad, it has 5 extra Views (Panes) opened again and I need to close them.

I really don't want to have to close 5 "views" every time I open Textpad. That is a time waster. If I close another view (pane) and the Explorer view gets exposed, I need to wait for my Windows Domain to be trolled which causes a many seconds pause.

Please, why is my "View" or "Pane" preferences not retained between launches of TextPad.

In my current working windows domain, we have "redirecting folder" policies provided by the Domain. Perhaps these "Default Views" preferences are being stored in a folder that is not persisting.

Any suggestions on where this "default views" preference is stored for my user?

I love textpad. Have loved it for at least 12 years now.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

The window layout is normally stored in a file called config.xml as described here. Maybe your policies are preventing it from being updated.
