Help: Find in files...notta :-(

I have installed 542 on win7 enterprise pro, 64bit.
Up until recently "Find In Files" worked great, then for some reason, machine overloaded or something, I lost all my settings for menu etc. Got those back etc and FIF no longer works.
Got desperate, even uninstalled and reinstalled, still nothing. When I try and open the search results window I get:
Unexpected and unrecoverable error. Would you like to save a diagnostic file?
I am going to send this to support@textpad.com, but has anyone seen this before?
