file tabs should be sortable: alphabetically, last used, etc

I've used Textpad for 10+ years, through many versions. Luv it!
However, there are few things that frustrate me to no end. Among them, are the file tabs are not sorted in any logical order. I open 10-20 files at time spread across several directories. I like the feature to see the path name in a tool tip, which has helped greatly in finding a file.
However, everytime I change to a new file, the tabs get resorted. So, I lose countless seconds trying to find the previous file I was editing. Often I use file|open to re-open the file rather than searching for it in the tab list.
Would really be great to choose the type of sort used, but at a minimum, sorting the list in alpabetical order and not changing the tab order/stacking until files are added/removed from the list would be a massive help.
If this is a difficult thing to change, even sorting the file list that appears in the dropdown at the end of tab list would be good.
