Switching to another editor for lack of support

I used to love Textpad, but it's a pain trying to open files under Windows 7. I posted here expecting someone to help, but nobody did. Here's the thread:
http://forums.textpad.com/viewtopic.php?t=10734
I received no replies, so apparently there isn't a fix, or worse yet, nobody cares. And Notepad may not be as good, but at least I can open files with it. I can't say that about textpad.
In any case, for those reading, when I double-click on a text file, I get this messagebox:
---------------------------
"C:\Program Files\TextPad 5\TextPad.exe" -s
---------------------------
The requested operation requires elevation.
---------------------------
I set the icon to "Run As Administrator" but it did nothing.
I won't "Turn off UAC" because I don't get these messages with every program I run. Some programs that don't ask for permission are Adobe suite, wordpad, Excel, Winword.
Thanks for the support, and for now, Notepad is my text editor of choice (at least until I find one that lets me open files without problems).
