Only one instance of Textpad doesn't work (Textpad 5.3.1)

Hi,

I'm using textpad since many years and have upgraded to the last version 5.3.1.
Since each time I open a new file it starts a new instance of Textpad (even if the "Allow multiple instances of Textpad" is not checked.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you.

PS: Finally i've found the problem : The option "replace Notepad" must not be checked...

Both settings are indispensable.

I agree - completely threw me after many years use after upgrading. Thanks for the workaround, but really I want an easy way of using Textpad as Notepad replacement as well as have just one instance. Is there any other way of having Textpad replace Notepad (ISTR there was a way involving renaming the .exe file and hiding the change from Windows)?
