Textpad hanging when I open a file from a mapped drive.

Hello all,
I'm a long time Textpad user who has come across a problem that the IT support people cannot solve. Everything behaves as expected when working with files on the local drive. However, Textpad hangs when I try to open a file from a mapped drive. Oddly, I can save a new document to a mapped drive without any problem. When I then reload this file, the text appears, but the screen freezes. The green bar at the bottom is filled and it says "Reading: <file path>". I have full permissions on the drives and have poured over the registry. The Win XP debugging tool revealed that Textpad is in some sort of infinite loop.
For now, I am copying all files locally and uploading. Obviously this is not ideal. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
