General questions about using TextPad

Document Selector

Is there a way to have a list either in the document selector or another area that would display text files (closed files) in a specific directory on my hard drive.

Yes, create a "Tool" in preferences.
"parameters: dir c:\" - for example
and caputure output.

Click View -> Explorer and your list is right there.
