"Textpad" on the root-level context menu not worki

I'm using Textpad 5.3.1 on Windows XP Professional (32-bit), and using "Open With" > "Textpad" on the context menu is working fine, but when I click "Textpad" on the root-level context menu, I get nothing. I have gone into the preferences and check and unchecked the context menu box and it still does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
