Preserving file modification date

Post by timvn »

Hi

I've been using WildEdit for a while and I'd like to be able to make modifications to text (XML) files in such a way that I can preserve or restore the original 'last modified' date. I need this because I want to generate manual editing activity stats, which currently are destroyed when I go in with WildEdit and make global changes to the markup or what have you.

I can't see any preference settings to ask WildEdit to retain the last modified timestamp. Is there such an option?

If the last modified date is that important (which is common), then you probably need some kind of version control system. I haven't used the modern ones, but I believe that Subversion and CVS are both popular and both free.
