I'm sure there's a very simple explanation of this, but suddenly TP 5.3.1 has started to show # when I type £. Copy and paste of the pound character into a TP file works fine though. The Default encoding is set to ANSI and 'Create new files as' is set to PC. I've also noticed that the # key appears as \ and @ as ", so it looks like some keyboard mapping is going on.

It seems that TP is the only app to be affected like this and my regional settings in Windows look fine.

Any ideas?

Do you have more than one input language installed through the Windows Control Panel? Your symptoms suggest that you have both en-UK and en-US installed, as what you are seeing is precisely what you would see if your UK keyboard were being handled by Windows as a US one.

Windows' handling of multiple input languages is extremely buggy. The only solution I've found is to use only one.

By the way, to an American, "pound character" means #, not £.
