I searched the groups with no success.
Spell used to work fine and I do not know why it has stopped.
When I select spell check I get the following message; "The spelling check is complete. 0 words were changed". And I know for a fact that I have misspelled words in my file. What gives?

config > doc classes > text > check spelling of: (neither three are selected)
config > spelling: every box is checked except "Ignore capitized words" and "Ignore words with mixed cases". I also have it set to "More accurate".

I just tried the spelling checker for the first time since upgrading from 4.something to 5.4.2, and I'm now having exactly the same symptom. The spelling checker just gives the "The spelling check is complete. 0 words were changed." message, even after I've intentionally added misspelled words.

This is for a plain .txt file. My spelling-related settings match those of the original post.

Did you ever find a solution?

Am I really the only person experiencing this problem?
