find in files tab order

Post by Quindel »

Hi

When you use find in files, can you change the tab order to go to the browse button after the in folder field?

It should go from In folder to Browse, and then to conditions Text. Browse refers to the In folder field.

P.S. If you are blind, this is what the user would expect.

Thank you.

You can't change the order for tabbing through the functions, but you can use Alt+R to browse for a file at any time.

I hope this helps.

chaing tab order

Post by Quindel »

I know I cannot change the tab order. I'm suggesting that the company who makes textpad should change the tab order. For the blind user / keyboard user, the tab order does not make sense. The Browse has to do with the In folders field. It should not be between the Find and the Close. On the screen it is fine, but where it is in the tab order, doesn't make sense to the blind user. It should tab from the In folder field to the Browse before it gets to the conditions. Then after the Find button, it should tab to the Close button.

That hotkey is not mentioned on the screen either.

Quindel is right. This is an accessibility issue. It happens that I can see the screen. But, since the tab order is not logical, a user who is unable to see the screen will find this dialogue box more difficult to use than is necessary.

A sighted user who navigates using the <Tab> key will also find that this dialogue box does not behave as expected.
