Over a decade ago, I built a configuration backup utility (the second entry listed at;
http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/index.html)

Can anyone tell me if this utility still works with 5.x?

I also note that "Add Ons" is no longer accessible from the TextPad menus. Any reason for it to be hidden or do some or all of these no longer work with 5.x?

Hi Beverly,

I didn't try running it, but your batch file makes reference to the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 4". At the very least, that will need to be updated to "TextPad 5".

Guess a related question would be if 5 itself offers any type of configuration backup?

Since I purchased back in 3.x days and 4.5 does virtually everything I need on a regular basis, I'm a little reluctant to repurchase at this point. (know I can install it as shareware, but...)

Not that I know of. The help file includes instructions on "How to Transfer Preferences between PC's" but they're the same steps as for previous versions.

You can see what you're missing out on in the release notes. I'd recommend sticking with 4.5
