The Word count is wrong! Thrown off by "smart" qu

The word count feature is critical when writing for publication.

However Textpad's word count is wrong when pasting in text that contains the so-called "smart" quotes.

For example, I'm should count as one word -- and does if a plain ASCII apostrophe is used.

However, many other editors convert that apostrophe into a "smart" apostrophe, like I’m. Textpad counts that last as two words!

Is there a setting or config file that controls this, or is it a bug?

Thanks in advance.

In
Configure | Preferences | Document Classes | <Class> | Syntax
or
View | Document Properties | Syntax
add any character you want to be treated as part of a word to
Other characters in words

Thanks!

That works, but I respectfully submit that it should be the default, shipped configuration of TextPad.
