Lockup when right-clicking the RH scrollbar if file is updat

When reading an active log file, I like to right-click the Righthand scroll bar and select Bottom to read the end of the log file.
When doing this using Windows XP, and the message "Another application has updated file blah.log. Reload it?" apears, it locks a new installation of Textpad 5.3.1.
Apart from disabling the update message from preferences, is there any way to stop Textpad from locking up?
Ideally, I would like the ability to automatically update the file while showing the last n lines of the log file.
