Explorer in 5.3.1 is slow and has access to floppy drive

The file explorer has access to the floppy drive with the typical noise and opens slow (only the first time after start of TextPad 5.3.1).
I'm also experiencing slow startups of Textpad 5.3.1 every single time.
Seems like the startup has been slower each release.
Running on XP SP3, 2 Gig of memory on a Pentium 3Ghz processor.
Update:
I discovered why the startup was so slow. For me it was because I have the Exporer view open in the window. I now keep this view off and it starts up in a fraction of the time.
This may also be why Harald Mahnke's textpad is attempting to read from the A:\ drive.
