Constrain the cursor to the text

In the CONFIGURE/PREFERENCES/EDIT menu, what does ticking "Constrain the cursor to the text" do?

Click the Help button and it will tell you. I can't really describe it any better than what's written there.

When set, clicking anywhere after the last char on the like moves the caret to the last position. When not set, it leaves the caret wherever you clicked and when you start typing it inserts tabs to fill the gap.
