"Another Application Has Updated File, Reload It?"

This is a minor peeve of mine when using textpad to look at log files or any file that is being updated constantly while I am looking at it.

I get the standard "Another Application has Updated File, Reload it?" which I either accept or dismiss depending on the situation, but for files that are being updated a lot (like a log file) it keeps prompting me, which gets annoying and interrupts what I am trying to do. I know I can turn off this prompt wholesale in the configuration, but I don't want to do that because I sometimes DO want the prompt to come up.

Suggestion: Add a check box on the dialog "Don't prompt me for updates again for this file." If I check it before hitting either yes/no on the dialog it would stop asking me about future updates for the remainder of the session for that particular document.

I fully agree!

Adding the Reload option to the Document Classes would help.
It would also be very helpful to have another change notification, e.g. a char at file name like the * for edited files.

I like Textpad, but if this long lasting issue is not solved soon, I have to look for another tool.

Beep and reload without focus

Would also like to see the option to remove the BEEP when the file reloads (again for text files), and would also like to see the option to reload the file even if TextPad isn't the active Window.

Thanks,

Jason

I love textpad, but the prompt is a real pain when you are attempting to look at log files updating in real time. Is their a way to disable it. Or does anyone know of another product that does not do this.

I agree completely! This would make TextPad THE replacement for any 'tail' like apps arround.

Said this, I think about making this a separate enhancement suggestion - if not already done by someone else...

EDIT:

There is of course already a separate thread
