Hi.
for me, Textpad is brain dead. or quasi.
no feature anouncement for months (years?).
I love(d) Textpad, I would like to go on using it... but it's getting
too prehistorical. so many things to do. Textpad WAS good. it
is no longer. I don't like UltraEdit at all, but seeing so many features
that I need (very badly) implemented makes me sad. What could we
do to help ? Maybe they are juste silent because no development is
planned, and they don't want to prevent customers from buying
their already dead software? where is Helios now ? I mean, a
software society that does no software development, it's kinda strange!

so sad!

Ironically I've been using Dreamweaver MX 2004 for the last week and it's quite nice :)

I think a positive statement from Helios would be good here rather than the usual non-committal statement and thread closure.

This is the worst way to treat your customers.

That's exactly what I would expect going on past threads about this subject. I think they have said all they wish to say on the matter (see link above to their May response) so expect this thread to be closed any time soon.

should we start some open discussion somewhere on the matter outside "commercial control"?

In fact, let's start here (seeing as I have been assigned the task of researching .net 2.0 thoroughly)

How to piss off a sofware company in one go:

Functioning project manager in c# 2.0. GDI+ based editor component under development. Stay tuned.

I take it that this is not the NextPad at http://www.programmersheaven.com/zone1/ ... 31808.htm.

Holiday time isn't the best time to expect a response from Helios, but I have flown home early especially to respond to this thread!

We have said this before, but just for the record, TextPad 5 is currently under development. We have never published information prior to new releases of our software, and don't propose to do so now.

This Forum wasn't set up to be used for this type of discussion, but is purely intended for TextPad users to get help from their peers in solving problems.

Therefore, as previously predicted, I am going to bring this thread to an end.
