Align doesn't work

Could anyone please explain why the command [Edit][Align] is always disabled? I just want to center a word in a line...

Hi Johannes!

Alignment is not available when you are using a proportional font (i.e. Arial) or if word wrap is enabled.

I just changed from Ariel to Courier. Word wrap is not checked
and I still only see grey align under Edit.

This used to work before I registered but hasn't since.
