Hi,
The latest versions of TextPad are much slower and unstable than versions 7 , on windows 2022.
For example , in the past, I could load very large files within seconds, and now it takes half an hour and still doesn’t finish and it freezes.

How large is "very large", and how much RAM do you have on your PC?
By "Windows 2022" do you mean Windows 11?
Which version of TextPad do you have?

File size is 500 MB.
32 MB RAM.
Windows server 2022 used as single user workstation.
With Textpad version 7.6 it took several seconds to load the file.

Run Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) while the file is being loaded and see if the bottleneck is due to memory or disk overload.
Re: The latest versions of TextPad are much slower and unstable than versions 7
Even if loading the file takes time—even several minutes—it shouldn’t freeze TextPad during the load. Can the loading be done in the background so I can continue working normally in the meantime?

Have you discovered where the bottleneck is?

This can't be true.
TextPad 7 always worked this way.Mordi wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 1:37 pmEven if loading the file takes time—even several minutes—it shouldn’t freeze TextPad during the load
Well, does this also happen with TextPad 7 (on your current Windows installation)? If yes, then TextPad's versions are not the culprit.Mordi wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 6:30 pmin the past, I could load very large files within seconds, and now it takes half an hour and still doesn’t finish and it freezes
