It would be helpful if WildEdit had a dedicated "Search" tab which contained the same "Search for:", "File filters:", and "Encoding:" options located on the "Replace" tab. That if you were on the "Search" tab, that little green play button's behavior (currently only "Replace All (F9)") would perform a search-only and list all the files the search term was found in. Maybe even display the actual line that would be affected along with it. It would allow you to tailor a Regular expression to your exact needs then when you're satisfied, you could click on the "Replace" tab which would auto-populate the options of the "Search for:", "File filters:", and "Encoding:" of the "Search" tab so you'd just have to specify "Replace with:" options. Now, since you're on the "Replace" tab that little green play button's behavior would act as it does right now and perform replacements.
Also, a Simulate Replacement feature would be helpful to show what the before and after of the replacement would look like (especially when working with Regular expressions and referencing capture groups).
I realize there is a "Load Test File" feature which serves a similar purpose having a Test Find/Test Sub-expressions/Test Replace but because it's limited to a single test file, it's not very practical.
WildEdit is a promising product in the Sed-like space on Windows. Keep up the great work.
Suggestion: A dedicated "Search" tab and Simulate Replacement
