Help!! All Preferences settings have disappeared

TP 9.5.0 64-bit

All of the customisations I made in Configure->Preferences have reverted to the default settings and all the tools I had set up have vanished. The names of the tools are still appearing in the top bar, but none function. The list of associated files is empty and filename filters have reverted to the default ones and I now have no active macros.

I checked in C:\Users\websi\AppData\Local\Helios\TextPad hoping there were some settings there, but it's empty and the Last modified for the folder is yesterdays date. Nothing in the recycle bin either.

Any ideas where I might be able to retrieve stuff from before I update to 9.5.1? I have an old TP8 ConfigState.xml, which is considerably larger than the TP9 one - might this work?

Tried using the old ConfigState.xml and it appears to have done the trick. More worrying is why the problem occurred in the first place.
